OLD TESTAMENT ISRAEL IS A TYPE OF CHRIST
Jesus Christ repeated Israel’s history and accomplished all that Israel was supposed to be and do, yet without sin.

- Christ is the restoration of David’s rule (Acts 2:30-36; 13:34)
- Christ is the descendant or seed of Abraham (Gal. 3:16)
- Christ is the light to the nations (Lk. 2:32; Acts 26:23 = Is. 49:6)
- Christ is the new temple (Matt. 12:6; Jn. 1:14; 2:19-22; 4:21-25; Rom. 3:25 – the altar)
- Christ calls 12 new tribes (Mk. 3:14)

The Old Testament’s history and promises are now addressed to and fulfilled in the Church.
- The Church is the continuation of Israel (Gal. 6:16; James 1:1; 1 Cor.10:1,18; Titus 2:14; 1 Peter 2:5,9-10; Col. 1:12-14; Eph. 2:12-22; 3:6; Rom, 9:24-26; passages addressed to Israel are now addressed to the Church, e.g. 1 Cor. 15:55 = Hosea 13:14; Rom. 8:36 = Ps. 44:228
- The Church consists of the descendants of Abraham (by faith;
Matt. 3:9; Gal. 3:29; Rom. 4:16-17; 9:6-8) - The Church is the light to the nations (Acts 13:47 = Is. 49:6)
- The Church is the new temple (Eph. 2:19-22; 1 Cor. 3:10-17; 6:19; 2 Cor. 6:16-18)
- The Church is the new Mount Zion (Heb. 12: 22)
